Legendary coach John Wooden passes, 99

Coaching legend John Wooden has died at the age of 99.  The “Wizard of Westwood” led UCLA to an unprecedented 10 NCAA basketball championship during his 12 year reign, a feat likely to go unrepeated in any sport.

With loyalties and rivalry aside, it is with a heavy heart that I offer my condolences to the Wooden family and those of the Bruin nation.  Wooden’s legacy extended beyond the Westwood barriers, appearing as a symbol of Los Angeles sports, as well as a national icon.

His achievements on the hardwood often overshadowed his contributions to the maturing of men. Respected by many, hated by none, and to be missed by all.

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. –John Wooden
