Kyle Prater lands at Northwestern

WR | Kyle Prater | USC

When Kyle Prater announced his decision to transfer earlier this month, it was speculated that he would be moving closer to home. Today we learned of his landing spot, which is located just 30 miles from Proviso West High School, where he starred before moving to Southern California.  The wide receiver will enroll at Northwestern and be eligible to play in 2013.

“This is one of the best days in my life for me and my family and I’m just happy to be back close to home, my family and my support group.”

Under the conditions of his release, Notre Dame was not an option. Wisconsin and Illinois were in the running for his services, but the redshirt freshman would ultimately choose the Wildcats.

Prater was a 5-star recruit, eventually signing with USC in 2010. He battled injuries for much of his stay, and caught just one pass for the talent rich Trojans in 2011.
