USC offers Max Redfield for Class of ’13

USC has extended an offer to Mission Viejo safety Max Redfield. It is the first college offer received by the junior, who is one of the most promising prospects at his position for the class of 2013.

The Trojans have their hands tied on the recruiting trail, so an offer this early, while handicapped with reductions, is indicative of a gem foreseen by the coaching staff.

Redfield is currently a two-way player for the Diablos, also doubling as a wide receiver. The primary focus for the Trojans is at Safety, with the roster position expected to thin in upcoming years, and where the junior rates as one of the best in the state.  The 6’2, 195 pound prospect also plays guard on the school’s basketball team.

“I called Coach O (Ed Orgeron), and when we were talking, he came out with it,” Redfield said. “He said, ‘We’d like to offer you a scholarship to the University of Southern California.’ ” –ESPN

Redfield is a former teammate of USC linebacker Tre Madden. He lists Oregon and USC as his current favorites.
