NFL suspends Fred Davis
Redskins tight end Fred Davis has been suspended for the remaining four games of the season, as announced by NFL officials on Tuesday. The punishment comes as a result of three positive tests for recreational drug use, which violates the league substance abuse policy.
Davis, along with Trent Williams, can return to the active roster no sooner than January 2, 2012. Both participated in Sunday’s loss to the Jets.
Davis was the 48th overall pick of the Redskins in the 2008 NFL draft. He was an All-Conference tight end at USC, and the 2007 Mackey Award winner. His 117 receptions, 1, 408 yards, and 13 touchdowns are school records for Trojan tight ends.
