3 footballers arrested on Westwood campus

Unwilling to to sit back and watch USC hoard all the media attention this summer, three incoming UCLA recruits were arrested for an on-campus incident.

The perpetrators were incoming freshmen Paul Richardson, Shaquille Richardson, and Josh Shirley. All three are facing felony theft charges, with two of the young men released on $20,000 bail, and Shirley allegedly released on his own recognizance.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, and full details have not been released.  The trio was apprehended by UCLA campus police.

Josh Shirley’s name stands out among the others, because many believed the linebacker was a lock to sign with the Trojans in February.  Instead, he opted to play for Rick Neuheisel, where it would be less likely that he wait in line for playing time.  Shirley was one of the UCLA commitments that prompted Lane Kiffin to say, “I guess we waste time continuing to recruit them. We know within the first 10 minutes whether they’re the type of guys that want to play here or there.”
