Seantrel Henderson will sign with SC

The wait for the nation’s top recruit appears to be over. According to the father of Seantrel Henderson, his son will sign his letter of intent and formally commit to the University of Southern California this week.

The New York Times issued the report on Monday morning, stating that Sean Henderson alerted media outlets with text messages to inform them of his son’s intent. The Miami Herald had reported on Wednesday that a high school counselor close to the offensive line prospect indicated that through several discussions it was clear that the Trojans remained the favorite.

Seantrel Henderson, an offensive lineman considered to be the nation’s top high school football recruit this year, will sign with U.S.C. on Thursday, his father said on Monday.

The timing of the decision is somewhat interesting, considering the delay was said to be caused by a pending NCAA announcement on USC athletics. That announcement can still be weeks away, and though some may celebrate, feeling the Henderson’s have received news before the rest of us, that isn’t the case.

Sean Henderson also stated that his son received his ACT scores on Friday, with results allowing him to qualify for USC enrollment. There was early speculation that the drawn out process may have been more about eligibility than the possibility of sanctions. The announcement coinciding with recent test scores may give evidence to some truth to those early rumors.
