Seantrel Henderson becomes a Trojan on hold

Rumors swirled on Tuesday that USC would be the future home of Seantrel Henderson. Speculation became fact on Wednesday, when the 6’8 338 pound offensive lineman chose Southern California for his football future.

Henderson, the nation’s No. 1 offensive line prospect picked the Trojans over Ohio State, Miami, Notre Dame, and Florida. The Buckeyes appeared to be in the driver’s seat for several weeks, especially after the unsettled situation with Urban Meyer in Florida and the departure of Pete Carroll from USC. Notre Dame made a late surge, and Miami had the luxury of hosting a final week visit, but apparently team Kiffin made a final pitch to closed the game.

Update: According to the New York Times, though Henderson has giving a verbal commitment to attend USC, he will not sign a letter of intent until the results of the NCAA investigation of the football program are announced.  That announcement is scheduled to come sometime between February 19th and 21st.  Not signing a letter of intent releases the lineman from any obligation and leaves him free to commit elsewhere without request and approval.
