McCoy and Spicer academically ineligible for postseason play
There’s some good news, if you’re a Boston College football fan, which is bad for those in support of the Empire. Tight end Anthony McCoy and defensive tackle Averell Spicer are academically ineligible for postseason participation, thinning the Trojans’ roster for this weekend’s Emerald Bowl.
A healthy McCoy has been one USC’s biggest playmakers, trailing only Damian Williams in receptions. Pete Carroll has also stated that Joe McKnight, still under investigation for possible rule infractions, will make the trip to San Francisco, but it isn’t known if the tailback will play. If McKnight can’t go, and you include the injury to Josh Pinkard, it will leave the Trojans minus four key participants for the season’s final game.
Update: Offensive Lineman Tyron Smith is also academically ineligible.
