Taylor Mays, Damian Williams highlight All-Pac 10 team

Taylor Mays was a first-team all conference selection, joining UCLA’s Brian Price, Cal’s Syd’Quan Thompson, and both JacQuizz and James Rogers of Oregon state as repeat selections.  Mays is the only member of the defensive unit to earn first team honors, as he is joined by offensive linemen Jeff Byers and Charles Brown, with Damian Williams bringing the Trojans’ total to four.

Southern California’s four players cover five positions on the first-team list, thanks to Williams’ dual performances as both wide receiver and punt return specialist.

Everson Griffen, Josh Pinkard, and Kevin Thomas were second-team selections, along with special team player Garrett Green.  Tailback Allen Bradford received honorable mention.  Looking at one that got away, Arizona State’s Vontaze Burfict was named Pac 10 defensive freshman of the year.  Burfict was recruited by USC and a verbal commitment before signing a letter of intent with the Sun Devils last February.
